Job Description
Responsibilities of a Fitter:
- Assembly and Installation:
- Assemble, install, and maintain machinery, mechanical components, or piping systems.
- Ensure proper alignment and fit of parts.
- Reading Technical Drawings:
- Interpret blueprints, schematics, and other technical drawings to determine the specifications for the job.
- Cutting, Shaping, and Welding:
- Cut, shape, and modify materials (metal, plastic, etc.) to fit specific designs.
- Use welding, brazing, and soldering techniques for joining parts.
- Maintenance and Repair:
- Perform routine maintenance on machines and systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues to identify and repair faults.
- Use of Tools and Equipment:
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment like grinders, drills, and cutting torches.
- Quality Control:
- Inspect and test systems and equipment to ensure they meet design specifications.
- Identify any defects or irregularities in the mechanical systems and rectify them.
- Safety Compliance:
- Follow safety procedures and regulations while working.
- Ensure all systems meet regulatory and safety standards.
- Collaboration:
- Work alongside engineers, technicians, and other tradespeople to complete projects efficiently.
- Record-Keeping:
- Maintain accurate records of work completed, including any repairs, maintenance, and parts used.
